Back up and move your save

Progress stays on the copy you are playing. The browser keeps it in that browser. The Windows build keeps it on that Windows copy. To carry the current progress, open Options → Saves → Export Save, move that file yourself, then Import Save on the other copy. The export does not include the hourly backup list. Importing replaces all progress there.

Original game only Strings from 0.120.5 One page for backup and transfer

Checked against Options → Saves on a fresh profile, Oct 27Updated October 27, 2026

Where the progress actually is

These lines were read from the live client’s English string table on October 27, 2026 (wenilla_bg.wasm?v=7553bc3a76db). That file’s menu text includes 0.120.5. The same day, Options → Saves was opened on wow.aethus.pl in a fresh browser profile that had no save. Export Save downloaded one file and the screen said “Your save was downloaded.” Importing that file asked “Replace all of your progress with {name}?” Replace, confirmed only on that empty profile, then said “Imported {name}: your progress is now the one it holds.” Backups stayed on “No backups yet,” before and after that import. No player save was read or uploaded, and this site does not keep the test file. Other guides still cite the last full menu check, v0.123.0. There is no separate patch-notes page for this screen; the sentences below are the client’s own.

The Saves page introduces the file in one sentence:

“Your progress (heroes, the zones each class has opened, gear, talents and the codex) as a file: to keep a copy, or to carry it to another computer or browser.”

Under that, the same screen warns:

“Importing a save replaces all of your progress with the one in the file.”

That list is what the game names. The confirm line still says all of your progress, so an import is a full swap of the destination copy, not a merge of two heroes. Addons are not in the sentence. They stay in the browser that installed them — see addons and the damage meter.

Export a copy

In the browser

  1. On wow.aethus.pl open Options → Saves.
  2. Choose Export Save.
  3. The page script that the client loads for this screen (saves.js, same cache stamp) downloads one file named AzerothSurvivors YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS.sav. The game then says “Your save was downloaded.”

The browser has no Saves folder. The client’s line for that case is “There is no folder to export to.” Keep the downloaded file somewhere you control. This site does not store it.

On the Windows build

  1. Open Options → Saves.
  2. Export Save writes into that install’s Saves folder. The success line is “Exported {name} to the Saves folder.”
  3. Open Saves Folder opens it. The note on the screen is “Exports go to {path}. Put a save file there to import it.” The build fills in {path}; this page does not guess the folder. Those lines describe the exported file. They do not say the live progress itself is stored in that folder. The live progress stays on that Windows copy.

If the write fails, the game says “The save could not be written: {error}.”

Import, and what it overwrites

  1. In the browser, choose Import Save and pick the file. The same saves.js accepts .sav and .txt. On the Windows build, either use Import Save or put the file in the folder named by “Exports go to {path}.”
  2. Read the confirm: “Replace all of your progress with {name}?” Replace makes the file the progress on that copy. Cancel leaves the current progress.
  3. When it lands, the game says “Imported {name}: your progress is now the one it holds.”

Two refusals are written on that screen:

The file the game exports is the one it will read back. Do not edit it, and do not paste a save into a form on this site. After Replace, the destination copy is the file’s progress. Heroes, opened zones, gear, talents and the codex named in the Saves sentence come from that file, and the confirm line covers the rest of that copy’s progress as well.

The automatic backups

The Backups block on the same Saves screen says:

“Every hour you play, the game keeps a backup of your progress (the last 5). Import one to go back to it.”

Those five stay on the copy that made them. Export Save does not pack them into the file: the file is the current progress only. On the fresh profile, the list said “No backups yet.” Exporting and importing that profile’s own file left the list empty. Clearing the browser’s data for wow.aethus.pl removes the in-browser progress and those backups together. Another browser does not list them.

Browser, another device, and Windows

FromToWhat to do
This browser Another browser or computer Export Save, move the .sav yourself, Import Save, then Replace.
This browser The Windows build Export in the browser. On the Windows Saves screen, Import Save, or put the file in the folder that screen names.
The Windows build A browser Export Save so the file is in the Saves folder, copy that file out, then Import Save in the browser.
Cleared site data The same browser Only an exported file, or a backup that is still listed, can come back. A cleared storage with an empty Backups list has nothing left to import.

The Windows build is a different copy of the game. Playing there does not read the browser’s progress until you import a file. A second browser profile, or a cleared site storage, is the same kind of gap.

If the progress looks gone

  1. On the copy you were using, open Options → Saves → Backups before you import anything else. If a row is there, the screen’s own line is to import it to go back.
  2. If you already exported a file, Import Save that file. Remember that Replace overwrites whatever is on the destination now.
  3. If the page said “Fake website detected”, that warning can offer Download your save while this browser still holds the progress. The button saves AzerothSurvivors.sav, and its own instruction is: open Options, Saves, Import Save on wow.aethus.pl and pick the file. That button is on a copy that is not the real page. Play on wow.aethus.pl.
  4. If storage was cleared, the Backups list is empty, and you have no file, these steps stop. There is no cloud restore written on the Saves screen, and this site cannot read a lost browser storage.

Save FAQ

Does Azeroth Survivors save my progress?
Yes, on the copy you are playing. The browser keeps it in that browser. The Windows build keeps it on that Windows copy. It does not follow you to another browser, computer, or the other build until you export the current progress and import that file there.
Does Import Save merge two saves?
No. The Saves screen says importing a save replaces all of your progress with the one in the file. It asks “Replace all of your progress with {name}?” Choose Replace to swap in the file, or Cancel to keep what you have.
What is inside the save file?
The game describes it as your progress: heroes, the zones each class has opened, gear, talents and the codex. The confirm line still says all of your progress, so treat the import as a full replacement of the destination copy. Addons are not named in that sentence.
Do the hourly backups move with me?
No. Every hour you play, that copy keeps a backup of your progress, and it keeps the last 5. Those backups stay on that copy. Export Save writes only the current progress. It does not put the backup list into the file, so another browser, computer, or the Windows build does not receive those backups.
Can I edit the .sav file?
The game refuses a file that is not an Azeroth Survivors save, and a file that is damaged or was edited. Export it and import it unchanged.
I cleared the browser and have no file. Can you recover it?
No. This site never takes a save file. The client does not describe a login that stores progress in the cloud. If the browser storage is gone and you have no exported file, and the Backups list is empty, there is no further copy in these steps.
